I have fixed several trucks by replacing that valve.

It is in the bolt, coming of the return port of the VP44. #4 in the picture.

Your better off to just buy a new one. You can't disassemble it to see if there are any problems within it. You can look in the backside of it with a flashlight and use a toothpick to check for crap logged in there, but thats it. I bought mine from a dealership, but I imagine a few phone calls could locate one elsewhere.

Yeah I got mine from the local diesel injection shop that does big rigs too................$31.00 I think it was. I was droppin pressure bad when I gouged on it though. I'm starting to have the same problem with the starting but mine seems to only do It sometimes after its warm. Let us know what u find.

My VPs runnin 18 PSI, should I turn mine down a bit? My truck seems to take an extra crank as well. Whats the PSI range on 2nd gens?

Nothing below 10PSI at WOT, and not to exceed the low 20's. The overflow valve in the pump is set to 18PSI. If you have 19 or 20 you will have extra fuel flowing through the pump for better cooling.
