Default 47RE Not Shifting Out Of First.................

I've got a friend with a '99 his 47RE wil not shift out of 1st gear without lifting off the peddle, once you lift out it seems to shift through the gears just fine.

A year ago he had a similar problem and it was a speed sensor in the trans., he threw a new one in it today and it is still down the same thing.

The trans., as far as the paper work says, was built by BD. It has one of there valve bodies in it.

We serviced it and adjusted the bands after the speed senor was changed and it still didn't make a change.

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Mine was doing the same thing and I had to adjust the throttle cable....... Doesn't shift as firm now but it shifts at WOT.

yeah i'd check the throttle valve cable adjustment on the transmission. it's a cheap thing to check and it only takes a couple minutes.

When I adjusted mine it felt like it lost some firmness and the TC doesn't feel like it locks as tight......

really? man it made a huge difference in mine. it will effect the firmness of shifts. my old cable actually siezed up which caused the valve to stick wide open. shifts were hard as hell. then i went too lose when i first adjusted it and they got way too soft. i found with mine there's a fine line. maybe yours is that way too. i know some of gm's 700r4's were real touchy too.
