Default Transmission Rebuild

Hey Guys, First off been watching this site for several weeks now and really like all the ideas and suggestions being given. Great site. I have just bought a 2002 Dodge 3500 4x4 Cummins with about 203K miles on it. I got it for $900. Reason is the trans is not working in 3,4 and 5 and the T/C is also gone. I am going to do all the work myself because I can and have the tools to rebuild the trans. My question is this: What type of upgrades can be done to the NV4500 to make sure that it doesn't come apart at some point in the future? I plan on putting some bigger inj, maybe turbo, intake, exhaust, you know all the goodies in the engine so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just to clear the air, what do you mean by "T/C"? Not Torque Converter, I hope. Clutch perhaps?

Well, I'm running an Auto, and it isn't stock. Not too familiar with the manuals, but it sounds like most put a good clutch in, and run a premium oil. That's it.

On my NV4500 it has an upgraded 5th gear nut, helps alot so it doesn't back off. 3rd gear is your power gear, has a bad problem of breaking don't really know of anything to help strengthen that. i've already had 3 in mine. Also they sale a bigger input shaft which i'd recommend getting. You usually buy this when you get your clutch though. But you got a good deal. I bought my stuff from blumenthal manufacturing at a great price. If you have any more questions i might be able to answer them.
