trans issues? or just the nature of the TC
my truck has a problem strating off with a trailer, at 18,000 pounds, my truck wont move it till the motor is revved up. once i get it goin and get the torque converter locked in 2nd, it pulls like it should. is this my trans slipping untill the TC locks, or is it just the nature of the goerends TC. we pulled the same load with dads, and takeing off in his 89 ford idi, it didnt have as much trouble taking off with it as mine did. but once moving mine kicked its *** pulling. so if any one could help, id appreciate it
well if its a higher stall tc then that would be my guess, i've never heard anything bad about goerend so i imagine thats just how its designed. might wanna have the bands adjusted just in case tho
just checked the fluid it is still the same color red, and does not smell burnt. i think im gonna drain some fluid and change out the screen, since im got to put a trans temp sensor in.

Adjust the bands while you are in there.Check for metal shavens, make sure any and all bolt are tight. The banks tq does the same thing, high stall mine about 1700 rpm with a heavy load.
hey all. i have a 1995.5 ram 3500, and i have had all kinds of issues with the automatic tranny, it was having all kinds of shifting problems like the torque conv wouldnt lock up. i was told several times to change the tps, and did at 150.00+ a pop, i finally got pissed. i did alot of reserch and was finally able to isolate the issue. on the 2nd gen dodge rams with automatics there is a frequency glitch in the PCM that controls the TPS. there is a ground problem. and fortunatly there is a fix. its made by BD engine brake INC. its a wire that you splice into the pcm harness and then ground. i did the fix today and it runs and shifts like new. you can check out the web site at BD Power - The Leaders in Diesel Performance. i got my part from the amcco xmission dealer was like only 30.00 bucks. also you may wanna check the kick down cable they fray really easy. and finally check the small male end of the throttle assembly that goes into the TPS, if its worn at all it will throw the xmission of sequence. hope that helps.
