A year ago I spun the splined drive 5th gear on the outputshaft of my 99 dodge 3500 NV4500 manual trans, hell i wasn't eaven pulling anything it made a loud pop hahahaa. First through Fourth gear still worked that was good (limped home). Installed a new oem output shaft and splined drive gear with a new Dodge tech bulletin retaining nut. Probably not new news to most of you but when it happened to me It was hard to find information on this transmission issue.a year or so latter after doing this Tech bulletin everything is still going good.

 

yeah mine poped off once which was coved, but im waiting the day it does it again

 

Just had mine fixed too. Happened at 122k miles.

 

happen to most of them sooner or later when i put them on now i always spot weld the net to the shaft if you are neet you can die grind weld off if you ever need inside tranny
