If you had to buy a VP-44 before - WHY in the world would you not have a 50 fuel pressure guage?

I know I need to buy one like yesterday. We have scanned it today and came up with nothing. We cleared the codes that were in it and we pluged the hole for the waste gate, and put the chip back on and seems to be fine. After we cleared the codes the check engine light came on and it was P1689 and cleared it and is running great. And we put a gauge on the fuel and ran it down the road and fuel psi is good too. I know the pumps are high and I need to get a geuge for it have one on order now will be here in a few days. If proplems come up again I will be shore to come here and see if you guys know what it is. I realy thank all of yall for the help I will post some pics of the truck and up date on the mods as soon as they come in and get put on. Thanks again to all the helped you guys

I hope it stays fixed for you.

Seriously, get yourself a fuel pressure guage - it doesnt have to be anything fancy, can be done for less than $50 and can save you the cost of an injector pump ($1000+)...

P1689 No Communication Between ECM
and Injection Pump Module
Data link circuit failure between ECM and fuel injection
pump. Low power, engine derated, or engine stops.

Hmmm sounds to me the VP connector was not seated right or the connector was off at a point when the key was on. When you see that code the truck will not start nor run at all .... not a kinda runs cruddy feel ........ just a thing won't start or run feel.

Oh and bein you seem to be good to go check one last thing that is a freebie. On the 2000-02 trucks (And do not know why) the passenger side intercooler connect hoses have been known (Mine did) to self slice a hole in them right by the edge of the metal that sticks out closest to the hoses. The oem hoses expand quite a bit and you can see how close the sheet metal is to the hoses as is. after a slight "Adjustment" of the metal in that area there should not be an issue.
