need advice, what daily driver to fix...I type like an idiot
Wasn't sure where to post so here it goes...
Ok so I need an opinion on which vehicle to fix as of right now Im without a vehicle & both will be around the same price give or take this is for a dd till tax time.I have a 99 cummins which a lady just rearended me in & I hit the medium slid across hwy & hit guardrail.I somehow was found@ fault anyways frames straight both fenders are junk so is bumper, main issue is the d/s rear axle was knocked off the blocks, the U bolt broke & the tire ended up rubbing up against back fender well.From this happening my overdrive unit busted away from the transfer case.So most shop's & about everyone on the cummins forums say just replace it & go on about my business, I also have both upper & lower control arms busted.
I Can fix all of this my self she still starts no issue.Next is the 83 Monte 11:1 compression 750 demon carb runs like a bat out of hell .Was going to be the winter project to get her completed & turn into a friday nite racer @ the shoot outs.Had the motor built @ a local race shop about 4 years ago& barley put any miles on it b4 trans went out.It has no ac but i have the parts somewhere , also I have a electrical issue no front lights but everything else works ,a cracked windshield may need new tires.What one should I build?
I live in a real rural area & 4x4 is a must & not sure if I fix monte can I fix cummins intime.Plus the monte would need plates inspection etc.Im just afraid Im gonna put the overdrive in it & find something else that's too expensive for me to tackle. Im paying for a lawyer for some stuff&suppose to be getting the place ready for winter what do you suggest? All the cummins guys say just do od Ill be fine but idk.I do however have a customer who has a good od unit with a billet od shaft he will sell me whole set up @ a good price.
I can get my trans rebuilt with a stall & shift kit in the monte pulled&installed for 800....Btw @ tax time I can get another diesel thought about selling this one wrecked & maybe one of my older harleys to buy another diesel but I'd just complain that I did so. @ tax time we will have about 10k plus money from a bike Im building to sell but all of that wqs suppose to go to buying a bunch of bikes, could put off a year but we would basically be snowed in all winter
