i have a 1998.5 auto and when i start it up the 1st gear revs really high almost like its not going to shift the it gos in. but after that 1st shift i can stop (not cutting it off) and go and the 1st gear ats normal.it happens everytime i cut it off and go.

 

Sounds like a possible Sensor... Have any codes?

 

Double check fluid level. Probably half a quart low.
