What Transmission?
help,
2002 dodge CTD 3500,2wd cab/chassis i have the 5 speed transmission and cant find the drain plug..
do i have to take off one of the PTO side plates to drain?
also what is this transmission called? NV-what...4500?
is this it?

I need to chainge the oil in it.. is Pennzoil syncromesh ok?

Yes, you have a NV-4500 (probably the HD version):

And you change the fluid by removing the bottom bolts on the PTO plate (or whatever you want to call it). Remove the covers and clean the crap off the magnet as well reseal with a little RTV sealant.
You only want to use Castrol Syntorque (NOT Castrol Syntech) and it takes 8.5 pints.
These are the ONLY lubricants recommended for the NV4500:
75W-90 Castrol Syntorque Synthetic
Mopar Manual Transmission Lubricant (PN 4637579)
GM Transmission oil (PN 12346191)
NOTE: Syntorque is NOT the same as Castrol Syntech.
Using different lubes in the NV4500HD will damage the carbon fiber synchros. You can get away with different lubes in the 6 speed because it has brass/bronze synchros but not with the 5 speed. Many people learn this lesson the hard (and expensive) way.
