I would change the cam sensor. or check the plug.
sorry i don't have the ohm out for it but you might be able to google search it.

so your thinking the cam sensor is faulty sending the wrong electrical signal back. That could also affect the dead pedal?

yes dead pedal cause there is not any speed signal for the ECM to process. And the ECM controls the VP44 fueling. Also you mentioned the tach erratic may be all cause of a bad cam sensor.
That's what I would try first wish I had the OHM readings for you on the Cam sensor we could check it. But at this point it seems likely its the problem and cheap enough its worth a try.

I found two on ebay, one has threads and one does not. the threaded one is 39 the push in is 18 dollars.

not yet, the truck has a temp gauge on the post. gonna dig under the dash as well. Also there is a three prong plug next to the pcm that has nothing plugged into it and no male deadend kinda open to the environment.

Dodge put all kinds of plugs all over that were used to interface different systems by the Dealerships.Probably just one of those would be my guess.
