I gotta 01 cummins 401000 km bought not running. Borrowed the tool to check the injection pump injection pump is fine. Has the. P 1694 code. Had new fass fuel system put new relay in fuse box for fuel system relay. Truck turns over and tried to start almost starts coughs sputters and dies. Tried new camshaft sensor. Didn't help. Bought the truck not running don't know a lot about it. But fass system is brand new.

 

What did you check as far as the injection pump? just pressure or did you make sure the computer on top is not fried. But do the basics of check intake and exhaust restrictions, could even be compression dunno until you start checking everything one by one. But could very well be it needs a new IP.

 

We got the tool that u hook up to the plug of the ip and hook it to the battery so it bypasses the ecm and everything and it will run perfect so the ip is operational cause u unhook that and plug in the main plug of the truck and its a no start. Just turns over coughs and farts like it wants to run

 

So it runs with power to it, but when you take it off it does not run? If thats the case you need to find out why the ECM is not communicating to the IP modual.

 

What is ECM?

 

Engine control module. Did you check fuel pressure as well? While you are at it check the alternator for AC noise.
