Default Problem with it cummin!!

I have a 99 Cummins 5.9 and as simple as this sounds I am not seeing something and maybe somebody can say here is your freaking sign!! ha ha, I had no issue with my truck went to town and when I went to restart it everything was dead... tried to jump it no good so I had it hauled home.. cleaned up the cables dash lights up but when I try to start it everything goes out... next I pulled the batteries one tested bad so I have a new primary and the secondary tested fine.. same thing, tried swapping out the relay like one of the posts suggested same crap??? could the started ground out the whole system and just go like that??? It looks new but has been on there since I got it and before I blow more cash Im going to pull it and get it tested.... Hmmmm any insight??? Thank you

does the ignition turn on and dash lights up before you try and start it?

any trouble codes if you can get that far?

meantime check all of your grounds and fuses.

Since one battery tested bad, replace both. This will help reduce headaches. Once you get new batteries, and the gauges work, check for codes with a code reader. DO NOT TRY TO START THE TRUCK!

Post up the codes and we will go from there.

I know this might be a long shot. But is your tuck an auto or manual? If its a manual it could be the neutral safety switch. Also try bypassing the solenoid with a push button switch. Easy test to check the starter.

Sounds to me you have a bad starter. Turn the key, starter shorts to ground, all power is lost.

2x on changing both batteries.

Starter, mine did this about a month ago. Check you're connections on the starter or just pull it and get it tested, it's pretty simple to pull.
