Easy guys, it sounds like the point that 2332 is trying to make is that the turbo may not be exactly what is in danger. He is worried about over pressurizing the exhaust side and therefore back pressurizing the engine causing head gaskets or worse bolts to fail.

So I'm pretty confused, what does it take to bolt on a hx35 off of a 96 to a 90 non-intercooled. Also what about the 4" downpipe- would you want to buy one for a 1st gen or second gen?

The exhaust flange is the same 3inch vband On 1st and 2nd gens unless it says its a hx40 inch vband then its true 4inch you want a first gen set up. And youd need to clock the turbo and either use a 2.5 inch to 3inch coupler to hook to the crossover pipe or make your own

the HX35 and H1C flanges are different. the h35 is a 2 bolt flange that you have to use with the factory cast elbow with that came on the turbo. the H1C is a 3 inch v band and the hx40 style is a 4 inch v band. cooler tubz makes a crossover pipe for a non intercooled to hx35.

The 35 u have there does not have a 3" flange, it's more like a 2.5". Now before u jump all over me on this one consider how they are sized. A 3" vband flange fits OVER a 3" pipe and measures roughly 4" on the biggest part that the clamp fits over. If u don't believe me go to any performance web site and order a 3" flange and clamp and try to fit it up to Ur turbo like as if to use it to make a custom down pipe and let me know how u make out. Oh and likewise, the hx40 has never had a "true" 4" flange. It is commonly referred to as a 3.75. Should be the same as a gt35. It's a weird size. Don't ask me y they had to do seemingly stupid things like this but unfortunately that's just how it is.

Id of the clamp is 3inch thats how they are measured not the outside diameter the h1c wh1c and hx35 can fit the same flange. The hx35 might be slighty smaller but it still can be made to work
