hx35 swap

i just picked up an hx35 off of a 1996 5 speed truck. it only has 99xxx miles on it but i do not know the exact size of the exhaust housing from a manual tranny truck. is it 16cm? and how much boost psi is safe to run through this turbo? just picked it up for 150$ so i cannot complain, eventually gonna do a hx40 hybrid.

All dodge p-pump engines I know of came with 12cm turbine housings

And I'm not necessarily saying its a good idea but I've seen several guys run 60 psi continually and not hurt the hx35

If its from a 94 to 98 12 valve it will have a 16cm, if its from a 98.5 to 02 24 valve it will have a 12cm, also I would not suggest hitting over 40 pounds unless you got head studs and a head gasket that can handle it

all hx35 and wh1c i have ever seen or read about have 12cm housings the hx40's have 16cm housings. and safe psi is 35 i would LOVE to see 60psi on a 35 saftey glasses and a bullet proof jock strap! LOL

I have seen 60 psi out of a 35 in my 99 that has a 96 12valve in it going up the mountain I have seen 1600+ degrees and 60lbs I just pulled it this winter and sold it to a local machine shop that made a 35 40 hybrid out of it and is using it. I think I had a good one :yeah:

what a lucky SOB. the efficiency range is maxed in the mid 30's that poor poor little hx bet it sounded cool

It sure did scream and yes it was way past its efficiency range

i never said it DEFFINATELY had a 16cm housing just asking if thats what it had. i will post pics later and pics of the swap. a i going to need anything besides a gasket between the turbo and manifold?

It will have a 12CM waste gated housing. All HX35's n WH1C's had a 12cm waste gated housing. hy35's had a 9CM waist gated housing.

I did the swap on mine yesterday cuz I had it to try n help with EGT's till I get a bigger one to help with the big injectors. I reused the gasket between the manifold n housing, it's just a flat piece of tin.
