Your links work fine, I was just saying how I had tried earlier and only found 2nd gen+ trucks running a diamond eye exhaust. Haha

Well... After a long wait the truck has finally begun it's journey to me from WA state to me here in TX. My mother decided she would like to get away and go on a little road trip of her own and visit me and drop the pick up off as well. Reason I'm saying my mother is driving it is because of this.. She sent me a text earlier saying she nearly made it to her destination for the night and lost 3rd gear (it's an A518) and the shop is quoting me 1800-3000 bucks... I'm not there to figure out for myself what is wrong with the pick up, and she isn't a mechanically skilled individual by any means.. Also, I have very little time behind the wheel of this truck ~60 miles.. And I've never driven a first gen before this one. So I'm not sure how to take this description... She said that she suddenly lost power (which I'm thinking it dropped out of OD and obviously couldn't speed up any faster than the stock gov spring would allow) She couldn't get it to go past 52 mph and she pulled off because she didn't want to push it any further. Any ways.. If anyone has an idea let me know what you think, I'm gonna call the shop tomorrow and see what they find. I don't want them taking advantage of my mother..

Sounds like the overdrive quit to me. 52mph in second gear sounds pretty unlikely.

Yea.... beard is right.... the max my 93 would go when I lost overdrive was 65mph..... and that was maxed out down a hill! If overdrive did go out its probably just a few of the minor problems that 1st gens have regarding overdrive

Exactly my thoughts, but my hands are tied.. She is 14 hours away at a shop and I have absolutely no way of getting there and seeing for myself.. They're pulling the trans for a rebuild (I have no choice, my mom has to get on the road) Said they're gonna put in a shift kit and tighter torque converter. If it gets here and I find out the trans hasn't been touched I'm gonna lose my cool.. They're quoting me 2500-3000!!! Ridiculous.. I could have done it myself for less than a grand (minus torque converter and fluids)..

They also told me that the transmission has lock up... I about lost it, These guys have great reviews and a nation wide warranty.. But I don't think they know what they're talking about. It obviously lost OD not 3rd like they told me.. again.

From the way you described it, I bet I could fix it in less time than it takes to watch an episode of Family Guy for about $10.
