Difference Between 1st and Second Gen Injectors

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I have been looking for info lately.
If one were to have a p-pump on their first gen engine. Would they be able to run a 2nd gen injector? Basically take the whole fuel system off a 2nd gen and put it on a 1st gen?
