if you are worried about opening pressures, all you have to do is add shim packs or take away meaning if a 2nd gen injector has higher opening pressure, all you would have to do is get a shim pack with lower clearance or grind about .001 at each time and check to see where your opening pressure is.

or maybe I'm not understanding
First gen injectors have a 12mm thread at the top where the injection line connects and the 2nd gens have a 14mm. 1st gens open at 245bar and 2nd gens at 260bar. Here is a crappy camera phone picture of the difference in threads. 2nd gen on the left and 1st gen on the right

not sure if this is true or not, what i was just told, is there are two types of VE fuel lines, one is for high pressure and the other for low pressure, low pressure is used by dodge cummins trucks and the other is for commercial type application and marine, not sure on this but I will contact my cummins rep tomorrow to find out.

thank for the info and pics.

The diesel bombing game has been going on a long time. Somebody would have figured it out by now. Or maybe it has been done, but it's one of those guys who stays off the internet and keeps to himself.

I would be interested in a "high" pressure VE pump, I know all the VE Cummins I have seen in boats are the same set-up as our trucks. But there a 100's of different set-ups.

fyi the VE will pop a 260 bar injector properly. All you need to do is advance the timing a little to make up for pump lose.

so.. what *is* the VE pump rated at pressure wise? 245-260bar is between 3550 and 3770psi which is not a very big diference.

what is the difference in injector body and spray pattern?

is there a different set of lines available for the VE that would fit the 2nd gen bodies?

lot of unanswered questions left in this thread guys.
