Mine had a small piece of the old broken gear in the teeth that prevented mine from working after replacing the gear. Once I cleaned the teeth out it worked fine. I manually spun mine by hand to make sure it turned easily after cleaning the gears before putting it back in.

 

It started working. Only after I tapped a wall with the rear bumper... So there must have been something lodged in the teeth. But now all is good and I'm getting about 20 mpg
