its a t3 divided, you can get a non gated 16cm housing for the hx but you are stuck with the 9cm on the he351. i would also recommend the hx,he351 or my personal favorite a small s300 in the neighborhood of 62/65/14 way superior charger over the other 2.

kinda curious what your thought is on a hx35 with 60wheel upgrade (hx40 7 bladewheel) and a 14 exhaust housing (gated). with 5x12 injectors..

not worth your time. the billet 6 blade hx40 wheel is better than a 7 blade. but all hx30,35 and 40 turbos have the same shaft diameter. that said when you put the most aggressive heaviest comp wheel on the small shaft you are flirting with a bomb. like i said before an s300 is a much stronger charger with a very similar personality to a hx35 in its smaller form. its larger variants can be a pain to drive around. an s3 is a much hardier charger with way more potential than an hx35,40 or he351 could ever have. if $$$ is tight that do an hx with stock injectors if your wife will let you spend a little, get a decent set of injectors and an appropriate sized charger.

well I already had the 5x12 s in and have been happy with them.. I did the 60 comp. upgrade a while back and it made a huge dif.. I picked up a wastgated 14 and put it on since my last post.. not sure what to think about it.. boost is lower and egt are up a bit but I need to adjust my boost elbo.. was kinda curious if the 14 would cool things down and kinda undecided at this point... maybe it will get cooler with a little more boost with the elbo adjusted???? just looking for input.. didn't mean to intrude on the thread guys!!

Couldn't hurt. I have the stock 7-blade wheel on my HX35 (01-02 vintage) with those injectors and I like it. Stock 12cm gated housing. Haven't opened up the fuel more than a couple turns yet because my screw threads are kind of mangled still.

I did drill a 3/4" hole in the divider, and it has an adjustable boost elbow (maybe I'll have a clue what it does after I get a boost gauge).

So today I had the bright idea of switching turbos. School is out and parents are gone for a week, a sick and anemic 2nd gen feed truck sitting in the driveway. Swap hc1 for hx35. Any comments?

How bad will the 2nd gen run with the smaller turbo

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

And how do I put the first gen turbo on the 2nd gen? (Waste gate to no wastegate)

they move the same amount of air roughly. the benefits with the later model charger is the smaller, gated housing aid tremendously in spool-up time. all you do is run a boost line from the intake side to the waste gate actuator and the gate will function as designed. factory they build 17-19psi before the open. and hx35 is a bolt on upgrade, no mods needed
