Ok guys I need help figuring out which transmission I have. The truck is an 89 but it has an intercooled engine and a 91-93 grill and dash. But the trani only shifts 3 times. I'm wondering if it's a 727 or if it's a 518 with a junk od unit.. Any tricks to figuring this out??

 

well if it shifts 3 times that means its a 4 speed which is the 518. Or did you mean it only has 3 gears? that would mean it shifts 2 times

 

No it has 3 gears. I suppose I worded that wrong. It's shifts twice and has 3 gears

I was also wondering if my tps not being hooked up would cause it to shift funny and not go into overdrive if it has it
