The fuel pressure gauge is only a "necessity" on the VP44 24v's. On 12v's its important to have, I'm about to put one in mine this summer, but its not like you IP will die instantly if it loses FP.

And on a 12v they are a real apin in the butt to keep working because of the pulsing from the lift pump. I put 3 in my 96 12v and killed all of them within a 5 month timeframe even with the fitting from rob at torktek and the extra hose and issolator.

Well I am having my own personal issues with added gauges at the moment. 3 brand new EGT gauges and not one of them worked.
