The AFC controls how much fuel is allowed in relation to how much boost you are making. If you remove, your turbo spools slower (unless you are good enough to control it with your foot).
The plate controls how much fuel you get at what rpm. If you remove it, or modify it, you can change when you get max fuel. You can just throw it out, it won't hurt anything.
It won't hurt EGT's any more than any other fuel mod. And it won't hurt clutches more than any other horsepower mod. If you want the best/safest mod, then install a 3 or 4k gsk, and then you can keep your trans stock.

Easy dont go assuming things. Im not saying its gonna automatically raise egts or anything else but from what i gathered the truck is stock and the owner may be new to the world of diesel. Now that being said I am trying to say that taking a plate out will
1. Give more fuel if the foot is pressed down far enough than a stock plate, some bought plates, and some custom ground plates.
2. It will essentially cause egts to go up because of the added fuel compared to a stock plate again assuming the driver presses his foot far enough.
3. Running no plate will hurt a stock clutch assuming the driver is going to take advantage of having no plate. More fuel= more horespower More horsepower= toasted stock clutch.
And while we are here i will go ahead and ask how adding a 3k or 4k kit will allow you to keep a stock trans or clutch. That has me confused... Please elaborate

Any more power than stock is worthless with a stock clutch because it won't hold it. By this I mean fuel plate mods, adjusting AFC stuff is fine since you are adjusting when the power comes on, but not the total amount of power. So if you are messing with the fuel plate, chances are you will need a better clutch as you will quickly find out how much the stock clutch will slip.
As I said before, I run nothing, no plate no AFC. I have the 215 pump with my 5spd and a valair 400hp clutch. Believe it or not, it is possible to tune the engine to make it a lot harder to get over 1200F, and I mean a LOT harder. If you take a stock truck, take the fuel plate out, take the afc off, 5" straight pipe it, BHAF, and thats it, you will still skyrocket on EGT's. My truck with the #10 fuel plate in and afc in would hit 1500 easy, then I took them out and tuned everything to a nats *** and now it is actually a lot faster, I have videos I made of 0-60 runs and it is quite obvious. It also smoked like a freight train back then as well, now it doesn't smoke hardly at all. This is with the stock HX and everything, the only mod that cost me anything was the clutch and a wastegate actuator, everything else is just tuning things.
As for the 3k or 4k kit allowing him to keep the stock trans or clutch, that is true. You must remember that a GSK kit does not do anything to power, it just allows the engine to rev higher with the same fueling, making it seem like it has more power. A clutch isn't going to care if it is spinning faster, just as long as there isn't more power being put to it.
