TPS read out - 1996
I have been thinking about the tps being the cause the truck stalling on take off (Automatic), It only stalls off a small goose of the throttle (When you want to just bump it).
The thing is I cannot understand why this truck has a TPS when it is not have a EFI system...
My snap on scanner picks up max of 2.83 Volts, Typically on a gasoline engine you want 4-5.84 Volts. The truck will not Communicate with the ABS via my scanner, I would have looked up the read out for the TPS on my snap on vantage... but the trouble shooter does not have diesel engines ($450 to reflash my cartridge).
Does anyone know what my read out should be?
If not what cause it to stall if I just goose it a hair, It only does it at take-off (via a stoplight)?
One more thing is that The 1994 12v shop truck does not have a TPS at all, I was going to plug my scanner into it and see what it said for my TPS voltage....
Okay last thing... The 1994 12v 4x4 3/4ton (Manual) has 4x the ***** of the 1996 1ton 4x4 dually (Auto)... Why? (The 94' will put the 96' to shame on any day, It has hauled 70,000 lbs.+ of steel ) I really did not expect Manual to auto would be that large of a performance difference... But I was surprised that the auto was only a 727!

The TPS probably wouldn't be causing your stalling issue. The reason these trucks have a TPS is for the trans. It controls your shifting. This is why the 94 manual doesn't have one. As far as voltage goes, it should be 1.0 volts +/- 0.2 volts at idle. Normally when these things fail, voltage goes low and you'll start to have shifting problems. As far as your stalling problem goes, sounds like maybe your idle speed might be too low. What are you seeing for that?
