Default Hard to start

I've got it all back together, and it seems to run OK, but it's hard to start. If I give it some throttle, it will fire up in 4 or 5 seconds. But without any throttle, I have to crank it for 20 or 30 seconds or more before it will fire up. When it does fire up, I get a short puff of dark gray smoke, then no haze at all. It just feels like it's loosing prime. At first I thought it was just air in the fuel, but aftter running for 15 minutes or so, I just don't think so.

The fuel pump, filters, overflow valve and injectors are all new. I have 15-18 psi fuel pressure at idle. Just about all of the fuel lines are new too.

Anybody have any ideas?

what are the pop pressures on the injectors?

it sounds normal to me, ever since I went with bigger injectors with a higher pop press I had to give her a little " love tap" to start

May be that the fuel solenoid isnt fully engaging. Try holding it up while you crank and see if that helps.

I didn't think that was much of an issue until you got over 16. It was one of the reasons I didn't go higher with the timing.

?

They have a 280 bar pop.

That was one of the first things I check, all good there, I had already put in a fresh relay as part of the rebuild.

From what I'm hearing, it's sounds like it's the price you pay for performance. Glad I put new contacts in the starter while it was apart.

The main thing is that the truck has autostart, and I really like that in the winter. But it will never start with that now. Guess I'll rig up a fast idle setup and see if that will work with the autostart.
