another return spring on the throttle linkage is what he's talking about
Speaking of return springs, has anyone ever had the return spring stick, and have the fuel wide open without having your foot on it? Had it happened yesterday, got it shut down before the rpms reached 4k luckily. Maybe I should look into another return spring, do the just make the accelerator a little stiffer, and return the throttle back to idle quicker?

if it's sticking open i would check the condition of your throttle cable and be sure its not starting to fray and stick on ya,,

I have seen it happen before, make sure the spring didn't come off. It would make the accelerator stiffer and pull the throttle back quicker.

HMM, I'll have to check that out. I don't believe it came off, all I did was flip that spring at the end of the throttle cable towards the cab and release it then it stopped.

I don't think that's going to work. At least not unless you have the orginal springs laying around somewhere. Or maybe some stock ones? Although, if going to stock springs from salvage or new, there is the matter of those shims that could have been removed. Don't know what issues that could add to the mix...

The only thing different from the 4k and the 3K kits are the most inner set of springs. I mean, you could buy a 4K kit and not install the third/last set of springs and it'll be the same as a 3K kit.

The problem with your dad's truck is that the smallest spring have already been replaced with the 4K inner springs and who knows what happened to the stock springs. So, if you do buy a 3K kit only 2 sets of springs are going to be included, and the third/smallest set is still going be the same, because it's a left over from the 4K kit. So, you'll have no change.... and be 100 bucks? out of pocket for it.

With that in mind, if you can get a hold of the stock inner most springs... and replace that; the pre-installed 4K kit should turn into a 3K one....

As far as those fuel linkage return springs, try Cummins for the part...I just purchased the Cummins part (Cummins bag) with the Mopar sticker on it from the dealer...I was not impressed with the price.
