ok i fricked up ran my truck with a leaky head gasket been only driving short distance noticed it get hot 3/4 on gauge than it got past that for about 1/4or less mile shut it down immeditely added water started her cooled down instantly ran fine maybe put put a little less than 3gallons in her do u think i hurt anything? thx hop sing

how hot did it get?
from what I can gather it doesnt sound to me like you hurt it anymore than it already was, only thing is the addition of the cold water. hopefully it was not super cold and your head was not super hot.

i ran my truck hot for over 150 miles... leaking raditor...it was sunday and nothing was open but i had to get home.
i pulled over about every 10 miles give or take. just pulled over after it was in the red for a min. i used about 24 gallons of water
but i made it home... and after takening it apart.. did not notice any damage at all. fixed the raditor and ran great again

i know it was dumb but i had to get home , but was a long trip since i would wait for it to cool down a bit

I think it'll be ok, I lost about 5 gals give or take a gallon from the torque converter cooler on the side of the engine block, would stop every now and again when it got pretty warm let 'er cool down and had to go back at it, fixed the line and added antifreeze and she worked great
