Default No TC lockup...

Finally dug the truck out of winter storage today, laid some rubber on the road infront of the house on my way out. got down the road and discovered that the TC is not locking. I havent taken a look at it yet, it doesn't lock in 3rd with the o/d switched off, and it doesnt lock with o/d on , but o/d does work... tried lifting the brake pedal, thought about the tps... but o/d wouldnt work if the tps was out of adjustment. It worked fine when i parked it in november.

thoughts and suggestions?

might wanna check the O/D off button. use a test light to see if u got power to it, and power from it when its on. i forgot to hook mine up one time and kinda panicked when i didn't have lock up til i plugged it back in. wish ya luck

also how far did you go? sometimes my transmission shifts fine but the tc won't lock if the fluid temp gets too low. its wierd but somethin else to consider. check your fluid level too

Temp sender is bypassed with a 1000 ohm resistor, so thats not it. I will check the o/d switch, there is power to it, it lights/doesnt light when i press it.

Changing a transmission in the combine today , so i might not get time to look at it for a few days.

I finally got to check into this some , new TPS did nothing , I tried a lockup switch , and the best i have seen is a rpm drop of 100 rpm, sometimes nothing. Im thinking there is a piece of dirt in the lockup solonoid , i know its bolted on the side of the VB, but does anyone have a picture of the beast? Id like to try dropping the pan and cleaning the thing before I replace it.

It cost about $70 bucks, have seen many go bad I would just go ahead and change. Dropping pan twice is not fun and alot of fluid.
