Default 98.5 dodge drives 1 mile then dies

hey guys, got a 98.5 dodge ram 3500 with the 24 valve engine in it. I have recently put a new lift pump on it as the old one killed over on me. I decided to go with one of the fuel boss pumps. Shortly after my vp killed over giving me the 216 code. Big surprise right?. Looking at the old vp though, the pump was sure to go out soon anyways as the key on it was almost ground off. Before the VP died, it would drive for roughly a mile or two, then die. It wouldn't sputter off, but almost identical to when you shut the key off, a very quick shut down. Until last night, I was running the smarty tuner on lvl 5 on my truck, last night I dropped it back to stock to see if it would stop giving me problems, nope.

Before the truck died on the first go round, when I opened the injectors, the truck would bleed through and be able to start back up, this was before the truck died and threw the 216 error code. Just before the code threw though, I knew the VP was dead as fuel was getting to the pump, but not past it. When I changed the VP, it would not crank over, but would pull start. It runs for roughly a mile, and dies. When it does run, it runs fine, not like it is starving for fuel. When it dies it is always when the engine is getting pressure released from it (I know thats not the right term at all....what I mean is it will run fine, but dies when the accelerator is let up on, or when the car is shifted out of gear.

The last thing I noticed, that I am thinking is going to be the problem, is the fuel relay in the fuses. It gets hot while running. I tried swapping them out to see if another one would do the same thing, and it got hot in that spot as well. The one that was hot cooled off and worked fine. I believe that the fuel relay switch is just getting too hot while running, and making it kill over as it trips the switch. Does anyone know of any common places that the switch could short at? all of the connectors to the vp are good and in place, double and triple checked it.

There are a couple codes that I am getting as well.

p1693 - fault in companion module

p0602 - module programming error

p0122 - tps sensor low circuit imput

the last one that I would get is no connection between ecm and vp (dont remember the code)
