sweet ok one more question how do i keep the pump shaft from turning when i am tourquing the nut on the gear?

you have to hold pressure on the barring tool, not too much or your timing will be off

The barring tool is that like the tourque wrench

no its the tool that is used to roll the motor over, it is inserted into the bell housing.

do i have to use that tool or can i just put a soket on the altenator and roll it over that way.

you can roll it over that way, but its way easyer to hold it with the barring tool than the altenator ... at least for me it is.

good luck with that, holding it by the alternator is almost impossible pulley with slip

Were do i get this tool that goes in the bell housing. Because i have never seen one i would imagin it looks like the end of a starter gear. But mabe if someone could steer me in the right direction in getting one of these thanks.
