Default Fuel plate removal slips timing?

I recently just removed my fuel plate and afc and my timing slipped, I got it fixed and re-timed but after reading other threads it seems like a lot of people have issues with removing/modding the fuel plate then timing slipping.
How many people have had this issue? Could the added stress on the pump from modding/removing the fuel plate cause enough drag of the injection pump to cause it to slip timing? I finally have mine driving, but I'm nervous to mod my fuel plate because I think that and mods to the injection pump can cause more drag on the pump and make it slip timing again.
is there any way to really keep the pump from slipping? I read of someone who used loc-tight on their shaft and seemed to not slip. Is this the only way to keep the shaft from slipping? And does it seem possible that modding the fuel plate would put more drag on the injection pump and cause it to slip timing?

It is very crucial when setting timing to clean the shaft and inside the gear of any oil, torque to proper spec. And enjoy the truck
Pump mods to not create drag

Electrical contact cleaner should be used on both mating surfaces. When tirquing, I found it worked well to buzz the but on with my battery powered impact, which is good to about 140lb/ft. Then torque with a torquemeter, instead of a torque wrench.
Mine has never slipped.
