Transmission question
I found a wreaked 04 dodge ram 5.7 hemi, and they want $450 for the automatic transmission i believe its a 48re, and it has 68k miles on it. I was wondering if that would work on my 98' dodge cummins that has a 47re auto in it. Its already been rebuilt once, and its in the shop now again! Would it cost alot to get put in? My dad has a 04 dodge cummins with the 48re with almost 130k miles and it has had no problems and shifts great! i think there alot more better than the 47s. What do you guys think??

I got 230K out of my stock 47RE and now I just had it rebuilt with a Goerend Converter and Suncoast H/D Extreme rebuild kit. I'm not sure the 48RE will work because it needs more computer programming to make it work than your '98 12V has. If it was me I would build the 47RE right and not worry about it again.

No I baby my truck LOL.....no late night tugging sessions like some people I know
The converter was $1300 and it has a lifetime warranty and no HP/TQ limit, THe billet input was $800 plus the rebuild kit. I pulled the trans and dropped it off and picked it up and re-installed. It's gonna cost you $5k to buy one built from some place and then install it. You always have the option of going cheap and doing it a 3rd time as well.....how much does it cost for 2, 3 or 4 trans rebuilds and installs the way you are having it done now?
