what happens when the bare metal starts to rust or when the carpet and padding get wet and you just cant figure out where that mildew smell is coming from? then you either have to cut out and repair metal or shampoo and replace carpet. all because of that cut floor board that you cant notice

thats why it is your opinion. i put i ruber sheet over the metal floor board before insulation and carpet. my uncle does apolstry for high end hot rods so carpet wasnt an issue
