you took your trans out with two ratchet straps and left the cross member in? are you posting this to try and impress us?

I just have one question ... why?

I'm a firm beleiver of the "work smarter not harder" saying and here is my advice to ya ... Go to wal mart buy a cheep floor jack, and drop the cross member and slide it out like your suposed to. It will make life way easyer when you try to put the trans back in.

the best way I have found is to remove the rubber peice that connects the cross member, use a rubber hammer to hit the cross member up as far as you can, and slide it out.

OR use a jack to spread the frame rails appart slightly and it will fall out

I have a cheap Porto-Power from Harbor freight that I picked up when I did my trans to pull the cross member.....mad things much easier and it's a nice tool to have in the garage.

I just told you how to do it the easy way ... after I take the drive shafts off it takes under 10 min to get the cross member off

i dont see how its possible, everytime ive ever pulled a nv you have to drop it some to get the shifter housing down below the floorboard. i have a porta-power it makes this job ALOT easier.
