band adjustment screw replacement question
I went to adjust my bands on my 96 today and instead of it having a torques bit screw in it it had a square headed bolt in it. Is this a common thing for tranny shops to replace the bolt with? I was afraid that this was someones cobbled up jerry rig that might mess up when I messed with it so I didnt do the service yet. The lock nut appeared to have silicone behind it also.

Before I converted my 95 auto to a 5spd. My 47rh had a square head on the screw the only socket I could get to tighten it was those damn funky sockets that have 8 or 10 points they look like the opposite of a torx bit but that is common. As for the silicone that was an okie rig there and to my knowledge to change that screw ya gotta drop the pan filter and vb to get to the band strut wich is what the screw attaches to and its a pain in the ***
