hah yeah that xmember is horrible. just pulled mine today. i used a big pry bar and lifted the transfercase/trans/engine with it and let it bang down on the xmember until it was about halfway out. then i lifted the whole thing again, and put a car scissor jack in between to press it the rest of the way out.
no idea how it's going to go back in though...
