Default timing question

I am new to the whole diesel thing but I am 17 and I have A 98 12v with a number 10 plate 350 horse injectors and a s300g and i dont feel like its making the horse power that it should cause my old motor had the timing advanced 16 degrees and It would turn them over in 4th with 355 gears but now I did an engine swap and didnt know how to advance the timing so its set to stock and in 4th and 5th my charger doesnt light until about 1700 rpms were it used to pick up about 1300 could my timing be the problem ?any advice would be helpfull

our dumptruck has a 12 valve in it and it was super sluggish the carger wouldnt light until 1500- 2000. it is all stock but we changed the exhaust gasket and it spools up real fast now. just a thought

your sig says you have a super b special thats a 64/71/14. If you do have a super b special 1600-1700 is about where its gonna spool with the stock head and cam.

well when i first put the turbo on there it seemed to spool alot quicker but then I swapped the motors cause the old one had a bad problem with head gaskets but it could just be my imagination

And as a side note I was thinking about getting a 4k gsk and different valve springs because i was told that could be part of my problem that almost as soon as it lights its running out of fuel
