sounds like the timing sliped. if the grear isnt put back on dry and clean it will slip prety easy.

I didn't clean the shaft or the gear before I installed it.

i agree. i have scene my buddys timing slip a couple time but it slipped one time and still ran but like crap, but every other time it wouldn't hit for nothing

i'll 3rd that the timing may have slipped. the shaft and gear need to be cleaned of all oil or contaminates. literally one fiber from a red shop rag will cause it to not seat correctly and slip.....

off topic but makes a good laugh. My buddy was gonna pull his truck at a county fair last year. well he wanted to advance the time more. got it all done went from 18.5 to i think 22. backed it out of the grauge let it warm up. got ready to take it down the road leaving the drive way he laid into it. right there in the drive way it slipped. a half hour before we were gonna leave for the pull

Well it was slipped timing.

It is all fixed now
