I believe you read the post wrong - we arent talking about base idle - were talking about high idle. You do not want to idle a Cummins at base idle - especially in the cold. You need to raise the rpm up into the 1100-1220 rpm range (which is usually referred to as "high idle"). And the 700-850 rpm range you suggested needs to be a little more precise.

i built a get up that looks like a bike ramp but it is made out of metal. i t is hollow so i can wedge it on to the pedal until the desired rpm.

Ya, don't mess with Doc... That orange jumpsuit looks good on him...

Anyhow.. I have tried a couple carb solenoids and they do work for a while, but can't take the vibration. They short out or break connections in the coils. Recently I tried a vacuum throttle pull off of an old gas engine I had that ran a compressor. No good either.

The best I have had so far is a bent piece of 3/8 SS instrument tubing that I have bent into an L. Put a rubber end on it for the pedal and then have it against the seat cushion. Power seat = power throttle..LOL...
