when i pull the engine to do the wrist pin bearing if that is the issue and cylander is not scored, would it be a good idea to do all rings, rod bearings, and hone the cylanders

my brothers are pullinh the engine this weekend completly out so we can start tearing into it to see what exactly is cuasing the knocking but honing and rings would be my best bet with new rod bearings? if cylaner is not scored of coarse. also what size rings am i going to need since i am not boring it just honing it. just standard not .020 or higher

If you are just honing put back in what it had..same size. Check your piston oiling nozzle if the wrist pin bushing is bad on that cyl. If you have high milage you may want to check everything out while you are there.

Can bore and sleeve the cylinder, but what's to say the others are getting weak.

im doing all 6 while im at it. i thought cummins didnt have cylander sleavs since its a cast block. if sleavs and you just re-sleave it instead of boring it?
