ok guys i have a 95 dodge ram 3500hd 5speed with a 12v cummins...i got the truck from a guy that said it had been sitting for 7 months.. It needed some gears in the tranny and was taken apart..... anyway i put a new trans in it got it all put back together changed all fluids and cranked it. upon starting i noticed the truck sounded like it was running rough. when reved up it pours white / blue smoke. cracked open all injectors 1-4 made the motor change tune...when i got to 5 and 6 it made no difference. i put two new injectors in 5 and 6 and started it up same problem it was getting fuel to the injectors tho.!!! guys please help i have alot of mechanical skill just not on a diesel. thanks my phone number is 706-816-9239 thanks all help will be greatly appriciated.

Try a fuel filter first but sounds like timing is pretty low

Just curious why would a fuel filter make 5 and 6 have no change but 1-4 change?

 

delivery valves I the injection pump. all the injectors should be flow matched and tested for pop and pressure. its not recommended to replace just individual injectors. The rings could be shot too. check the draft tube and engine openings for smoke and pressure. check the charge air system for oil leaks and shaft play and boost leaks. It sounds like the truck has not been well maintained. Prolly a combination of issues.
