My truck has 208,000 on it and its stock besides an exhaust and intake, tranny is starting to act up. goes fine into 2nd gear but has a hard time going into 3rd, over revs and then after letting off it will catch and shift hard. ONly happens when the truck is still cold. Drives fine after it gets up to temp. Just wondering if its the TQ ??

 

It's possable, i'm also wondering if it could the throttle position sensor.

 

TQ would give problems all the time not just going in to 3rd. As for what it could be there are a number of this seals, clutches, or maybe a valve sticking. Solenoids, and output sensors cause a lot of problems on those trans.

 

Clean your connections. If that don't work would check all your grounds. Ie; battery cables. Engine and frame grounds. As well as look and see if the cables are corroded internally. When my 96 acts up its always been the ground. If its not that then need to look at it being the pressure and governor switches in the valve body. Easy to replace your self. But start with your grounds and also check your relays under the hood by the battery on the driver side. Just unplug check for corrosion and plug Back in. Good luck bud. It's usually the simple stuff that's a pain to find.
