transmission plug issues 89 vw jetta
i just bought a 1989 vw jetta diesel 5 speed manual trans.
reverse was making a noise like a cv shaft was gone. so i decided to put some new tranny fluid in with some lucas to see if i could quite the noise.
i took out what i thought was the transmission drain plug, it believe it took a t-45 torx bit
took the pug out and put new fluid in.
i was just driving it around the yard, apparently some dummy, didn't tighten the plug.
cuz it fell out with all the fluid. now i can not get the plug back in all the way.
what have i done? can someone please point me in the right direction

that was a lock bolt for your internal gear shaft, i think the secondary set, drain plug is on the diff section, fill is by the green cap on the end, any more questions ill do my best. btw, anyone need me in maine or nh, ill help if i can
i ended up buying a transmission off a fella from lewiston area last fall.
i still haven't had a chance to get it in yet..
how hard is it to repair the old transmission? i have a friend who has a tranny shop, but he said he only works on american transmissions.
