ground wire way too HOT!!!!!!

Default ground wire way too HOT!!!!!!

i have a 91 jetta diesel 1.6 non turbo . yesterday i got back to the shop ...she fired up normaly ,let it warm up ....took off and got 1/4 mile up the road and it died ........tried starting last night and today after work with no luck .....my question is the ground is was so hot it melted one side of the terminal ,this does not seem normal
any input would be greatly appreciated

sounds like it had a bad connection. if it were me i would go buy a new terminal and some ground wire. i like the ones with the ends already on them but you can buy the solder on terminals and do it yourself sometimes cheaper. if there are any small grounds to the terminal on the battery i would skin back the insulation and make sure they aren't coroded and put them in the new terminal. then i would put a thick 4 gauge or bigger, 4,2 or 0 are more than adequate, to the car's body or chassis, normally this is connected to the inner fender. then i would attach a ground from the terminal to the block directly. fins a bolt like one for the lift hooks or any bracket bolt that screws directly in the block or head and has enough threads to properly clamp it down. this should fix you up.
