Default stock truck pulling

Ive never been to a pull event before just see em on tv and such. if i was to ever go to one what do i have to know or have on my truck before i hook up and pull? is there a class for bone stock trucks(not power wise) but like a class with no front end weighting or special hitch set up? i have a hitch reciever but is that good enough to hook up to a sled? thanks just curious.

You will pull in the work stock or street class, its not bone stock but real close. You will lose. But it is VERY fun!!! You will work your way up to the front. I feel that pulling a low power truck 1st really teaches you how to set up a truck and read teh track! You will need some kinda 3" or 3.4" ring to hook the hook into. Someone might loan you one there. Here is a thread with a bunch of pics of hitches. https://www.dieselbombers.com/transf...g-hitches.html

Go out and try it, its a blast!

Here was my truck bone stock...

Now I'm up to this...

Still not in the front but working on it!

i think every one needs to start with a semi stock truck, then move up. the biggest problem i see is u haveing a stock clutch, ya have a possibility of tearing it out, but the rest of ur truck will hold just fine. i got plenty of friends pull stock clutches in stock form. but its all ways a possibility. good luck and have fun

My advice is to not start pulling. Unless you enjoy being broke like the rest of us. It's. A lot of fun. My truck was stock for a week before I strted tuning it. Now a couple years later the motor is out for the 3rd time and I put all of 5 miles on the truck in 2009. Not oto mention I still have a couple payments to make on it.

Pulling is fun but it's a terrible addiction.

go for it. just don't try to slip the clutch cause it won't hold. i've pulled many many times on a stock clutch with no problems. just gotta know how to take off. nitrous never even made it slip except once, but i was drag racing. sold the truck with 160 some odd thousand miles. and i agree with durallymax. it's very very addicting, kinda like coke for the first time...... you will go nits. ( last line is a joke)
