Keep your gears and invest in some twin turbos

 

no twins already had them laying in my shop and sold them would have cost to much to put in the ford with moving everything to make them fit

 

basically im just not a fan of the turbo lag towing with higher rps it seems to do ok but the lower rps it gets hot in a hurry

 

4.10s are fine with big tires, id want at least that! My 2wd has 4.10's and i can still hit a smidge over 90 on 245's, stock gov.

 

What transmission do you have? I kind of like my 4.10s but I have an IDI, not a Cummins.

 

i have 4.10 in my 03 Cummins with about 10,000 pounds getting 16mpg w/o trailer getting 13 mpg with the trailer also not stock air intake mod and silence ring gone has some turbo lag but it most switching gears between 1st and 2nd

 

Love those IDI's, my first 3 trucks where 6.9's. I got a couple buddies with em and get to play with em a lot. Good work horse engine and stone dead reliable. Cheap parts too.
