I would be interested in a link to that article mentioned earlier. I'd like to see what grades make the top ten.

That may be it because I can't remember anything on the northern part of I-81 in virginia that is all that bad. I just ran through there in august goin 75 most of the way with no problem.

towing? it wouldn't have been an issue unloaded. I just remember passing through both way it felt like a neverending windy climb, kinda like the PA turnpike has in a few spots, 4th gear ran no problem but 5th just not quite enough umph to keep speed, with current upgrades i'm sure I could pull it in 5th

I'm thinking it was right before christiansburg

on the other hand theres a few local roads around me that have some pretty steep grades, but short. I remember the one in my old ford 6.9NA with my foot through to floor it would barely hold 50mph unloaded. i'm gonna go see how the dodge does on that this weekend come to think of it.

In my limited travels of our country, I kind of wonder why grades under 6 made their list. I also read a comment in there about 'we think the grade is around 6%' or what ever they said. Can't a little research be done so an official number could be referenced? Guess that is why I let my subscription lapse with that mag.
I know of a few grades that are over 6 that weren't on their list. I think they are harder to pull / tow on than some of the ones they listed.... Who knows? But then I don't think Emmigrant Pass is all that hard either. I have seen p.u.s sitting along side that pass with their brakes literally on fire!! So, maybe the difficulty of the grade is from someones experience on it? Equipment makes a big difference too. I really like my Mega compared to the old junk I used to drive. Makes all the difference in the world!

yea been on that one before, we got a couple where i am at that run 9-11 that we use everyday, but they are just state routes, and not very long, but its enough to heat the brakes up good if you aint careful.
