the fedex trailers do have pintle hooks but also there is a plunger that comes thru to hold the dolly tight in the pintle hook , and there cant be any play or it is against DOT rules. If a driver has no plunger then he can not roll. and yes i do work for FedEx so this is actual knowledge not here say....

I've only had one pintle hitch come unhooked. It was caused by me. They hit the ground pretty hard when you have a 953 cat loader on them. I didn't latch it and it came up when I loaded it but set on top of the pintle tongue. When I went to pull away it fell off.
Pintles set up right have little slack in them. I just favor a gooseneck with any kind of moderate load.

Well, I think a GN or 5th wheel is the best you can get with these trucks, but for a tag along I'd stick with the pintle.

I know for a fact that the shower trailers I haul from time to time are not illegal, even though they got pintle hitches and electric brakes.
I've never really had any trouble with them slamming around on me,but I drive them pretty gently, the 14k trailers will smack ya hard if the trailer brakes are not working...something I fix immediately!

go Gooseneck!

I've pulled a few Pintle hook trailers and some days/loads they were fine and others they would fight me the whole trip. Behind a dump truck they were fine but behind the ol SRW dodge they didnt like me.

GN, just load it with a little hitch weight and go that $2000 can go to a NICE 30' tandem dual GN trailer that you would be very pleased with!

Pintle hook. They'll haul a hell of a lot more weight than a ball. Plus as said above, they are simple as pie to use/hook up.

if i had a choice it would be pintle hook every time. more steel. no flex. fast hook. if you look at the biggest bumper pulls on the road they are all pintle hooks. road trains are multi pintles. when they get thin you can see it comming on. try it i bet you'll like it.
