I have had several sets of 19.5 tires and wheels on three different dual wheeled trucks since 1993

Currently I have just over 110 110,000 milles on my drive tires on my 2003 durax max. They are Generals. the fronts have 70,000, and had to be replaced due to the front end not being set up properly.

The problem I had with steel wheels was getting 6 straight ones. This also lead to irratic wear and premature replacements.

Initially I had 4 aluminum and kept two steels on the inside, but still had vibration, so bought two more aluminums so now all six are aluminum, and the wear is great as is the vibrations.

If you're starting a build from scratch, I'd suggest going with 22.5 inch rims. Wider selection of tires and rims,price not much different, maybe even less, way easier to change a tire on, no freakin' comparison. Not sure if Rickson or any body else makes direct fit 22.5s, I'd prolly just get some adapters and shop for some used Peterbilt rims. That's my $.02, but then I'm stickin' with 16" rims and trying to hunt down 15" tires for my buddies. When did those things disappear?

 

The other problem I see with 19.5's is all the tires I have found are only rated to 75 mph.

 

Tractor trauiler tires also say max speed 75 mph, and I'm sure nobody has ran them any faster
