Spare tire question

I also found it depends on how wide the tire is. A wider tire won't fit and a narrower size will go up and kinda ahng over the tail pipe. A lot of this also depends on some other factors though. The tailpipe size and location being the main one. Personally I carry mine in the bed. I learned not to trust them hangers. They either rust up and won't lower down, I had to cut my tire lose with a body grinder, or they snap and the tires tears up the back of the truck coming out at highway speeds.
I keep waitin for somebody to build a heavyier duty carrier, I even suggested it on these sites some years ago but so far nobody has done it.

Hey, I appreciate everyone's insight on this. I'm still undecided on what to do, maybe I'll get a 35" and keep it in the garage until I go on a road trip. Then I'll just grab it and throw it in the bed.
Uncle Bubba, I don't know of any skinny tire sizes available in a 35". Do you? The best option I know of is the 255/85/16, but its only like 33.2".
No Problem, I appreciate the offer and I might take you up on it, but I can probably just test fit one of the tires on my truck just as easy. My concern with a 35" is that the dern thing would be hanging out below the truck so badly because I'd probably have to get at least a 12.50" wide tire. Also, the additional weight might prove to be too much for the silly stock tire hanger.
Maybe its time I get well practiced on using a plug kit...........
