Sometimes a bad batch of tires will just roll off the assembly line. As the tires wear they will change the center of balance and will make the weights in the wrong place. This shortens the life span. That's why they came out with the Dyna Beads that are just in simple terms like BB's you put in the tire and centrifical force is supposed to put them where they need to be to balance the tire, this way they adjust to the changinging tire charactoristics. But they have their problems to. When I had the Truxxus Radials on I ran into this problem with them. They were Bald within 15,000 miles. That was an expensive lesson learned in tires.

Andrew....dont bother with tire weights...especially if you are getting some new wheels. As Dennis already mentioned, order some Dynabeads from these guys:

I will NEVER put on another set of hammer-on wheel weights.

That sounds too easy!

All I need now is the handle of two spoons and I can install the tires myself! (Brings back childhood memories)

Naw you aint a kid no more, the toys are bigger now. Now it takes a pry bar, a hammer, a bottle of starter fluid and a lighter and in a pinch you can change your tire with alot of work.

No way. If I had the money for a video camera back then I would'nt have been changin tires like that. Not even I'm that cheap. And ya, sometimes if you sprayed to much starter fluid in there to set the bead that little smilie is exactly what it looked like.

It's actually slick as hell when it works. DISCLAIMER: BUT NOT VERY SAFE.
That tire pops right out on the rim and won't budge. I've done it on tractor and truck tires when I'm in a pinch. Out way back in the boonies one night 4 wheelin in an old full size blazer and rolled the tire off the rim. jacked the corner up, sprayed it, lit it, added a can a fix a flat and on my way to town.

The two spoons method sounds safer ... I think I'll buy myself a bike!

Check this thread out and tell me if this is what your talkin about with spoons. Whitmore said one of these guys was our own Dr Evil, but he wouldn't say which one.
